I know that if you burn scented candles in the same room with the bird, it can potentially kill them.
My question is, is it safe to burn scented candles for a short period of time (5 – 10 minutes) on occasion (once or twice a week) in a different room with several rooms/closed doors between the bird and candle?

yup, i would think so, but hide the birdie in a closet (walk in) for a while. any room away from the candle area is fine. just wait like a half an hour after you blow out the candle to place your parrot back in
I would imagine so. I certainly do, but I guess there is always a risk. I would just try to ensure that the room you are keeping your birds in is well ventilated just in case anything happened and they did inhale fumes.
As a sidenote, it is safe to burn soy based candles near birds
I wouldn’t recommend it. The chemicals used in scented candles, air fresheners, and potpourri, are all potentially toxic to birds.
If you have great ventilation should not be a problem. I Burn Candles, in the house. my birds are housed in a bird room with the door closed and a strong air purifier going. make sure u air out the room the candle was burning in before you open the door your bird is behind.
I would not take a chance..but i guess you could..get soy base ones
Never burn scented Candles where there are birds nor use air fresheners, it does not matter how long you burn them for , once the fumes are released, your bird will have problems with it.s breathing.
So No to perfumed Candles or any other things
Better off buying some perfumed Flowers
They give headaches to many people so, imagine to a small bird many many times smaller!
Scented candles and airfreshner are, in my humble opinion, useless at best and dangerous as worst!
