I looked high and low for the perfect wedding favor candles. Finally found them on an increadible sale, only to get home and find they smell like christmas trees. Does anyone know of a way to lessen or remove the smell from scented candles with out burning them?

I had one sitting in the sun for a few months and it faded and didn’t smell as strong.

I’m glad you found the visually perfect wedding favor candles; I hope the fragrance isn’t so overpowering it makes them unusable for you.
I’ve been a professional candlemaker, and I’m sorry to have to tell you that there is no way to remove scent from a candle which has been scented. Whether the wax was scented with an essential oil or an artificial scent, the entire *batch* of wax had the scent added before your candle was poured or molded, so there is no way to remove it.
you could try spraying them with a different scent that you actually like….
Congrats on your wedding! Here is what I would do..
You could take some activated charcoal at any pharmacy put it in a bag with the candles. Make sure they aren’t touching though. Let them sit for awhile and the charcoal will absorb some of the “throw” the candle puts out which means the scent it has when it’s burned or sitting there. I do this with wax tarts when they are too strong. If you can’t find activated charcoal (which would work the best) try baking soda. It also absorbs odors.

You found the perfect candles. Just what you want, The smell should not matter. The only people who will smell the candles, are the officiant and you and your new husband.They will get blown out right after the ceremony.No one will smell them but you. I’ll bet your furture husband won’t smell them.They are lit for such a short time, get what you want. You can’t remove the smell.
