Decorating the dinner table can be a difficult task. It is usually a task that most people leave to the last minute and then just end up putting up a couple and candles. You could buy an expensive flower arrangement, but why pay the extra money? You could try making a flower arrangement, but that can be very difficult. I have started decorating my dinner table with fruits and candles. It is so easy, simple and elegant.

Materials:

Fruits

Vegetables

Sharp knife or

Fruit candle carver

Marker

Directions:

Begin by gathering the right materials. You can buy a fruit candle carver at specialty gourmet food stores or Walmart or Target. It is the easiest way to carve the hole for a tealight candle. If you cannot find a candle carver do not despair. A sharp knife and a pencil will do the trick.

Select the right fruits and vegetables. You want big, shiny beautiful fruit. Buy green and red apples. Squash works very well. Mini pumpkins work exceptionally well. Think outside the box. Buy tropical fruit you wouldn’t normally eat, like persimmons and pomegranates.

Prepare the fruit. You will want to wash and dry the fruit. Remove any labels. If you will be using the tea light candle carver, all you have to do is place the carver on top of the fruit and push and twist. The hole should be the just the right size for tea light candle.

If you do not have a carver, this is not a problem. Take the tealight candle and place it on top of the fruit. Trace around the tealight candle with a marker. Now with a sharp knife, carve out the hole. Use a small spoon to carve out enough pulp to allow the candle to fit in the hole.
